Schoolbus driver killed, 19 students hurt in accident
August 12th, 2010 - 10:01 pm ICT by IANSLucknow, Aug 12 (IANS) A schoolbus driver was killed and at least 19 students were critically injured when the vehicle in which they were travelling collided with a mini-truck in Uttar Pradesh’s Kushinagar district Thursday, police said.
The accident took place in the Hata area, some 300 km from Lucknow, when the students of the K.R. Public School, a private institution, were returning home from school.
“The school bus driver died on the spot, while 19 of the 35 students, aged between 10-12, received critical injuries,” police Inspector R.T. Verma told reporters in Kushinagar.
The driver of the mini-truck was also injured in the head-on collision, he added.
