School principal, teacher in unseemly rowApril 29th, 2008 - 11:05 pm ICT by admin
Ghaziabad, April 29 (IANS) The Delhi Public School (DPS) in Indirapuram here was involved in an unsavoury row between a teacher and the principal, with both filing police complaints against each other Tuesday. Teacher Reetu Tripathi alleged that principal Meeta Rai had called her to her chamber and told her that she was terminating the services of her husband, a yoga teacher, on the complaint on a parent.
According to Tripathi, when she told the principal that her husband’s services could not be terminated without an inquiry, the principal told her not to interfere. She also ticked off Tripathi’s sister Jaya Mishra when she sought to intervene.
Tripathi alleges the principal slapped her and called the police.
She alleged that a police sub-inspector entered the principal’s chamber and started beating up both the sisters, and snatched away Tripathi’s mobile phone and a gold chain and her sister’s purse containing Rs. 165.
“The police sub-inspector dragged us by our hair and dumped us on the rear seat of the police Gypsy,” she told IANS.
The police registered her complaint at the Indirapuram police station against principal Meeta Rai, three others - Abhishek Bansal, Seema Kaur, Rohtash, sub-inspector Ifthakhar Hussain and S.P. Bansal.
The police also registered a complaint of the principal against Tripathi and Jaya Mishra.
Investigation officer Sube Singh told IANS that Tripathi slapped the principal first. When the police reached the school, Tripathi slapped the police too.
“The sub-inspector might have got angry and stepped beyond his limits. The policemen are also human beings,” said Singh.
Principal Meeta Rai could not be contacted for her comments in spite of several attempts.
