Sanatan Sanstha is threat to nation: Goa home minister
November 13th, 2009 - 12:55 pm ICT by IANSPanaji, Nov 13 (IANS) The Hindu rightwing group Sanatan Sanstha, five of whose associates have been booked in connection with the Diwali-eve blast in Goa, is a threat to the entire nation, state Home Minister Ravi Naik said here Friday.
“Their threat is not to Goa alone, but to entire Bharat,” Naik told a local news channel Friday. “They first tried it (conspiracy to explode bombs) in Maharashtra and now they have tried to carry out blasts in many places in Goa,” Naik added.
Three Sanatan Sanstha members have been arrested by the special investigation team (SIT) appointed to probe the blast. Those arrested include an MBA student and an electronic engineer.
The two people who died in the explosion while ferrying detonator-rigged gelatine sticks to a crowded place in Margao, a south Goa town 35 km from here, were also associated with the Sanatan Sanstha, according to the police. Naik said that the SIT was moving in the “right direction”.
“The SIT is making satisfactory progress. They have been given a free hand and no one is interfering with the investigation,” Naik said.
