Anchorage, Alaska, Nov. 28, (THAINDIAN NEWS) San Diego Toreros successfully clinched a victory upon the Houston Cougars on the Friday match and secured their position to play the final match of the Great Alaska Shootout 2009. Tom Penders, the coach of the Houston team has praised the players of San Diego team for the way in which they executed their gaming strategy and played the entire match in a slow pace. According to him, it was the slow pace of the team that did not allow the Cougars’ players to play their natural games and lose the match. He was upset to lose the match and said, “We could never get the lead to force them into playing a quicker tempo.”
San Diego players showed an excellent coordination throughout the game and dominated their opponents in maximum part of the match. They never left their control on the match and became successful in defeating their strong opponent. The final result of the match was 72-65, which indicates that the teams have given tough competition to each other throughout the match. Results could have been different if San Diego players were not allowed to play the game in slow pace.
San Diego Toreros now have the chance to claim the title of the Great Alaska Shootout 2009. Their next match of championship game is scheduled this Saturday against Washington State. While San Diego plays their coming match against Washington team, Houston team is preparing to take on the Alaska Anchorage team for the third spot. Alaska Anchorage is the host team of the shootout games and are expected to play well.
