New Delhi, Feb 26 (IANS) Two days after the government slashed two percent from the excise duty, electronics goods manufacturer Samsung and satellite TV service provider DishTV Thursday decided to pass on the benefits to customers.
“The company has decided to reduce prices of its LCD television by 1.2-1.7 percent depending on the model size, which translates into an end customer price reduction of Rs.1,000 to Rs.5,000,” Samsung said in a statement.
For plasma TV, the price cut is in the range of Rs.1,000-Rs.2,000.
The statement added that home appliances will be cheaper by 1-1.5 percent.
Dish TV said also said it will pass on the full benefit of service tax reduction to subscribers with immediate effect.
“The service tax has been reduced from 12.36 percent to 10.36 percent and the subscribers will now be charged as per the new rate of service tax,” the company said in a statement.
