Saina in semifinals of Japan Open
September 23rd, 2011 - 6:24 pm ICT by IANSTokyo, Sep 23 (IANS) India’s Saina Nehwal moved into the women’s singles semifinal of the Japan Open Super series badminton with a 21-17, 21-13 defeat of Singapore’s Juan Gu here Friday.
Saina, seeded fourth, coasted to victory in mere 29 minutes.
She next plays eighth-seeded Juliane Schenk of Germany against whom she leads 5-2 head-to-head.
The two last met in Hong Kong Open Super Series 2010, where Saina came off a winner in three tough games.
