Saina in quarterfinals of Indonesia Open

New Delhi, June 23 (IANS) India’s Saina Nehwal moved into the quarterfinals of the Indonesia Open badminton, dispatching Petya Nedelcheva of Bulgaria 21-18, 21-9 at Istora Senayan in Jakarta, Thursday.

Saina, seeded fourth, will next face eighth seeded Dane Tine Baun, who beat Ayane Kurihara of Japan 21-12, 21-16.

Defending champion Saina is looking to complete a hat-trick of titles in the Indonesia Open.

The Indian, troubled by an ankle injury, has not been in good form in the two previous tournaments in Thailand and Singapore.

In the women’s doubles second round, Jwala Gutta and Ashwini Ponappa went down to the sixth seeded Indonesian pair of Meiliana Jauhari and Greysia Polli 20-22, 21-18, 18-21.
