Russian accused of biting two policemen
September 8th, 2012 - 6:52 am ICT by IANSMoscow, Sep 8 (IANS/RIA Novosti) Former world chess champion Garry Kasparov isn’t the only Russian to be accused of biting a police officer. A 21-year-old Russian has also has been charged with biting two policemen.
The man from Novosibirsk region allegedly bit one policeman in the hand and the other in the back.
The trouble started when the suspect refused to pay the fare for a taxi ride.
“The passenger was drunk and behaving inappropriately” and threatening violence, police said. The taxi driver alerted his dispatcher, who called the police.
When police arrived at the scene, the passenger refused to cooperate. When the policemen hauled him into their vehicle, he bit them.
The man has been charged with “petty hooliganism”.
Kasparov had been accused of biting a policeman’s finger while being detained at a demonstration in August, a charge the chess grandmaster described as “hogwash”.
All charges against Kasparov were dismissed at an Aug 24 court hearing.
