Runaway tyre kills two minor sisters
January 21st, 2011 - 11:20 pm ICT by IANSAligarh, Jan 21 (IANS) In a freak accident, two minor sisters died here Friday after they were hit by a tyre that got detached from a speeding private bus, police said.The mishap took place in Naglapatwari village, when one of the front tyres of the bus got detached and hit the girls who were playing by the roadside.
“The two sisters - Tanha (4) and Shahna (5) - were critically injured. They were rushed to a hospital, but were pronounced brought dead,” police inspector Udaiveer Malik told reporters in Aligarh, some 350 km from Lucknow.
The bus driver escaped after the accident.
According to police, none of the bus passengers was injured after the tyre came loose and rolled away.
