Runaway criminal arrested by Delhi Police
December 3rd, 2009 - 9:42 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )New Delhi, Dec 3 (IANS) A criminal, who escaped from police custody two months ago while being taken to a city court, was arrested Wednesday along with his brother, police said Thursday.
“Santosh had escaped from police custody Oct 3 while he was being taken to the Patiala House courts. He was arrested along with his brother Rajesh from Safdarjung Enclave area on the basis of a secret information Wednesday,” a senior police official said.
“As a result of his escape, eight police personnel were suspended. After his escape, Santosh formed his own gang and, with Rajesh, committed several incidents of snatching,” the official added.
“On interrogation, he disclosed that when he escaped Oct 3, he entered the bathroom in the court premises and after about 90 minutes, he came out and fled from the staff gate of the court complex,” official further said.
Investigations are on to ascertain the brothers’ involvements in other cases.
