Hoshangabad (Madhya Pradesh), Feb 26 (IANS) At least five people barged into a Central Bank branch here in broad daylight Thursday, looted over Rs.200,000 at gunpoint and shot a customer who tried to raise an alarm, police said.
The robbery took place at the Pawarkheda branch.
“About five people reached the Central Bank branch in Pawarkheda on two motorcycles at around 2 p.m. and looted cash worth over Rs.200,000. They also fired at a customer - an employee of Hoshangabad Agriculture University - when he raised an alarm,” Police Superintendent Deepika Suri told IANS.
“The person who is undergoing treatment at the district hospital has sustained an injury in his jaw and is out of danger. The entire area has been sealed and a hunt has been launched for the culprits.”
