Rs.10 lakh stolen from a car in Ghaziabad

Ghaziabad, Dec 21 (IANS) A bag containing Rs.10 lakh was allegedly stolen from a car in Ghaziabad, police said Monday.
According to police, Deepak Tyagi, a resident of Makanpur locality, withdrew Rs.15 lakh from Indirapuram branch of the Punjab National Bank. He also had Rs.11 lakh in cash in another bag.

Tyagi then went to a relative’s home in the same locality and parked his car in front of the house. According to Tyagi, he went inside the house with the bag containing Rs.11 lakh and kept the one with Rs.15 lakh in the car.

When Tyagi returned to the car hal an hour later, he reportedly found currency notes of Rs.100 and Rs.500 denomination lying on road and on the rear seat of the car. The bag was missing.

Tyagi said after counting, he found that currency notes lying on the road totalled Rs.1.5 lakh, while the ones on the seat were Rs.3.5 lakh.

Nearly Rs.10 lakh had been stolen from the car, he said.

“We have registered the case,” said Rajesh Dwivedi, an official with the Indirapuram police station.
