Kalpetta (Kerala), June 4 (IANS) Two people, hailing from Rajasthan, were arrested Wednesday by the police and Rs.2.5 million hawala money was seized from them in Kerala’s Wayanad district. Babulal Sharma, 25, and Rakesh, 15, were arrested at Kalpetta area. They were travelling on a bus from Bangalore to Kozhikode.
“We acted on a tip-off. We searched the bus and took them into custody. The cash was kept in two cloth bags,” P.S. Gopi, deputy superintendent of police, told IANS.
They were going to deliver the money to a person in Kozhikode. “They had instructions to hand over the money to a person wearing a yellow shirt at Kozhikode bus station,” said Gopi.
