Robbery motive for call-centre employee’s murder

New Delhi, March 23 (IANS) The 28-year-old call centre employee, whose body was found in Haryana’s Faridabad district Friday, was smothered to death, with robbery apparently the motive behind the murder.
Jigisha Ghosh, a resident of Vasant Vihar in South Delhi, had left her home for office in Noida Tuesday but did not return home. Her body was discovered by Faridabad police three km from Surajkund Friday night.

“The preliminary post-mortem report suggests that Ghosh was smoothered to death. There was no sexual assault and no weapon injuries,” said DCP (South) H.G.S Dhaliwal.

“The motive behind the crime appeared to be robbery as her mobile phones, ATM and credit cards were missing. We are awaiting the final post-mortem report to ascertain the exact cause of her death,” said Dhaliwal.

The assailants used Ghosh’s ATM card to withdraw Rs.77,000 from the State Bank of India ATM in Mahipalpur besides using the credit card to buy certain items from Sarojini Nagar market, he added.

The police are checking the CCTV footage of the market and the ATM to identify the attackers. They are also trying to trace the call records of her mobile.

The only daughter of her parents, Jigisha used to work with a call centre in Noida’s sector 126. She had been living with her parents. Her father J.K. Ghosh had approached the local police station and lodged a kidnapping case in this regard Thursday.
