Road race kills three MBA students in Coimbatore

Coimbatore (Tamil Nadu), March 15 (IANS) Three students in their early 20s, racing their cars on a highway, died on the spot after a head-on collision near this Tamil Nadu city, the police said Sunday evening.
Those killed have been identified as M.M. Rishi Das, P.S. Shyam and M. Nishad Mohammed from Kerala, who were doing their masters’ degree in business administration, a police official said.

The mishap occurred when two groups of students began racing their cars on the highway and collided with a car coming from the opposite direction, said a traffic official in Coimbatore, 500 km southwest of state capital Chennai.

While one of the drivers, M.K. Irfan, has been admitted to the government medical college hospital in a life-threatening condition, K. Sarath, 20, the driver of the second vehicle, has been arrested. The hunt is on for the third driver, the official added.
