Road accident in Nepal kills 11

Kathmandu, Feb 15 (Xinhua) At least 11 people were killed and more than 24 injured when a jeep skidded off the road and fell down a valley in western Nepal Friday morning, a news website reported. The accident occurred at Gagrikhuta in Gulmi district, some 200 km west of capital Kathmandu, when the jeep was going to Gulmi district headquarters Tamghas, the website eKantipur reported.

Local residents and a police team immediately reached the accident site to carry out rescue operations.

Nine people including a minor died on the spot while two succumbed to their injuries on way to hospital.

Of the injured, six were stated to be in critical condition.

Police said the jeep was carrying passengers beyond capacity.
