Chennai, Nov 20 (IANS) Former head of a state-run company, his wife and teenaged domestic help were found brutally murdered in their house here Thursday, the police said.Though the house was ransacked, ornaments on the killed woman were left untouched, prompting the police to look for multiple motives and clues behind the triple murder.
The bodies of S. Saravanan, 74, former chairman and managing director of the state government owned Tamil Nadu Minerals, his 73-year-old wife Kasturi, who was a former bureaucrat, and their 17-year-old domestic help were found in Saravanan’s suburban home in Ashok Nagar.
“The victims’ necks were found slashed. Though many cupboards in the house were found ransacked, the ornaments on the person of Kasturi, a retired state government official, were left untouched. Therefore, we are looking at different angles for the murder,” said K. Radhakrishnan, city police commissioner.
“We are yet to establish as to exactly what was taken from the home. The victims, who had been well off, had no heirs and their only domestic help too was killed by their assailants,” Radhakrishnan added.
“Sniffer dogs have been pressed into service and various fingerprints have been lifted from the scene of the crime,” police sources added.
Towards the end of his career in the 1980s, Saravanan had come under a cloud of suspicion. He was accused of stashing sizeable wealth abroad by under-selling granite blocks in the European Community through a specially appointed agent in Germany.
