New Delhi, Nov 19 (IANS) A 75-year-old retired teacher at Jamia Millia Islamia University allegedly committed suicide by setting himself on fire here Thursday, police said.
According to police, the incident took place around 8 a.m. Thursday in the Tikona Park area of Jamia Nagar in south-east district of Delhi.

“Iqram Ahmed allegedly poured kerosene on himself and set himself on fire after which his family members called the PCR. He was rushed to Safdarjung Hospital with 90 percent burn injuries and he succumbed to his injuries later in the day,” a police officer said.

Police said they have recovered a suicide note from his possession in which he had written that he was fed up with day to day disputes in the house.

“He was not satisfied with the behaviour of his family members and it was the reason behind his extreme step,” the police officer added.

Iqram Ahmed was a reader in physics in the training institute of Jamia Millia Islamia University, from where he had retired around eight years back.
