May 18th, 2011 - 12:29 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, May 18 (IANS) Rescue operations continued Wednesday at the site of an under-construction building in west Delhi that collapsed the day before, killing three people, fire officials said.
“The rescue operations are still on, but chances of other people being trapped in the debris look bleak,” the officer said.
The incident took place at 4.20 p.m. when the four-storey building collapsed in Chander Vihar, killing the owner of the building and two labourers.
Police have also evacuated a building adjacent to the collapsed site as it tilted after the incident.
Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) Commissioner K.S. Mehra has ordered an inquiry into the incident and deputy commissioner of the zone has been told to submit a report in three days.
