‘Ravana’s warrior’ says he didn’t intend to kill in road rageOctober 18th, 2008 - 2:13 am ICT by IANS
Vadodara, Oct 18 (IANS) An extra in TV serial “Ramayana” who accidentally stabbed to death a man with his spear in a case of road rage, has said he had no intention of harming the victim, let alone murder him. Gulshan Sindhi alias Dawood, who played one of the numerous extras in demon king Ravana’s army at a shoot at the Sagar Studio here, got into an argument Tuesday night with the victim, driver Sajid Saiyyad, and assaulted him with the spear prop he was carrying as part of his get-up, police said.
Sindhi, in his statement to the police, said: “My horse panicked and I had no idea that it would end in a tragedy of this sort. I had a heated exchange with the deceased but never intended to harm, let alone murder him. Nor did I know this person or ever had any enmity with him before.”
On Tuesday night, when Sindhi was trotting down the road after the shoot to search for a place for the horse to rest, a car driven by Saiyyad, 35, came in the way and his horse panicked. This led to a heated exchange of words that ended in Saiyyad’s death.
A case of murder has been registered against Sindhi, Panigate Police Inspector M.D. Jadeja told IANS.
“There is now no question of bail or any relief for him,” he added.
