The Kurukshetra Development Board (KDB) announced that it has decided to request the Haryana archaeology department to hand over items of historical significance to the Srikrishna Museum in Kurukshetra, 110 km from here.
At a meeting of the KDB attended by Haryana Governor Jagannath Pahadia and Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda here, it was decided that ancient items like pottery, seals, jewellery and metal objects as old as 5,000 years would be displayed in the archaeological section of the Srikrishna Museum.
Officials said that the move would bring more tourists to Kurukshetra museum, which saw a high tourist inflow of 3.16 lakh visitors in the last one year.
The KDB also cleared the decks for the construction of Lord Venkateswara (Shri Balaji) temple by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam Trust (TTD).
The KDB decided to allot 5.5 acres of land to the TTD trust for construction of the temple. The land will be provided to the TTD trust by the Haryana government free of cost on a 99-year lease in the vicinity of Brahma Sarovar in Kurukshetra.
