New Delhi, July 13 (IANS) A city court Monday sentenced a man to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment for repeatedly raping his two daughters for a year.
“Where else the victims could have resided safely? The offence committed by the convict is heinous and requires to be dealt with severely,” District and Sessions Judge S.P. Garg said in his order.

The court also fined Ram Singh, a resident of Malviya Nagar in south Delhi, Rs.5,000. He was convicted under section 376 (rape) of the Indian Penal Code.

Terming the testimonies of the victims as “reliable”, the court said: “The convict is the father of the victims. He not only raped his elder daughter, 16, but also did not spare the other daughter who was just 11″.

A complaint was filed by the elder daughter at Malviya Nagar police station Sep 22, 2008.

Singh, who used to return home drunk, raped her thrice during 2007 and later also raped her 11-year-old sister, the complainant said.
