Ranvir Sena chief gets bail
July 8th, 2011 - 8:57 pm ICT by IANSPatna, July 8 (IANS) Brahameshwar Singh, chief of Ranvir Sena, an upper caste militia notorious for massacring Dalits, was released Friday after a Bihar court granted him bail, police said.
The Jehanabad district civil court granted him bail after hearing his petition. The Sena chief was in jail for nine years. He was earlier given bail in 16 cases.
As he walked out of the Ara jail in Bhojpur district, about 60 km from here, Singh said that he had full faith in the judiciary.
He was arrested in 2002 from Patna. He is believed to have masterminded the killings of at least 300 Dalits and backward caste people since forming the group in 1994.
