Ranji Trophy: Railways win by over innings against UP

New Delhi, Dec 8 (IANS) Railways won by an innings an 94 runs as they skittled Uttar Pradesh out for 201 following-on on the third day of the Ranji Elite Division tie at the Karnail Singh Stadium here Thursday.

In Bhubaneshwar, Karnataka built on their first innings lead as they were 169 for six in the second innings and took an overall lead of 192 runs. Stuart Binny took a five-wicket haul, restricting the hosts to 255 in their first innings.

At Vadodara, Baroda set a stiff target of 364 to chase for Gujarat. Ambati Rayudu scored a brilliant century to propel the hosts to 330 in the second innings.

Mumabai are in a spot of bother in Rajot as they still trail by 217 runs in the second innings against Saurashtra. Sandip Maniar and Jaydev Unadkat put Saurashtra in command by restricting Mumbai to 360 in the first innings on day three.

At Indore, hosts Madhya Pradesh are on the verge of beating Delhi as they require only 59 runs with five wickets in hand. Mithun Manhas’s gritty century seems to have gone in vain, thanks to some inspired bowling by T.P.Sudhindra who registered a five-wicket haul, while Naman Ojha’s hundred put the hosts in the driving seat with stumps called on day three.
