Bridgetown (Barbados), June 28 (IANS) West Indies fast bowler Ravi Rampaul ripped through the Indian top-order as the visitors were reduced to 44 for four at lunch on the first day of the second Test at Kensington Oval here Tuesday.

V.V.S. Laxman and Suresh Raina were batting at 23 and 0 at the end of first session which was dominated by the West Indies after they won the toss and decided to bowl on a lively pitch. Rampaul troubled the batsmen with his raw pace and was rewarded with three wickets.

India, looking to post their maiden win on this ground, were off to a bad start with Abhinav Mukund (1) back in the hut in the second over. The southpaw failed to negotiate a rising delivery from Rampaul and spooned an easy catch to gully.

West Indies captain Darren Sammy bowled a beauty to get Rahul Dravid (5) caught behind and India were left struggling at 8 for two in the first ten overs.

Laxman along with opener Murali Vijay (11) batted for the next 15 overs but constant pressure from the West Indies pacers meant the runs were hard to come by.

Vijay’s 75-ball vigil ended when he gloved one climbing sharply to the wicket-keeper and became Rampaul’s second victim. India’s woes were compounded after two balls as Virat Kohi went back without troubling the scorers.
