Bharatiya Janata Party Kolkata, June 15 (IANS) Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Nitin Gadkari Wednesday termed the crackdown on supporters of Baba Ramdev at New Delhi’s Ramlila Ground as “fascism” of the UPA government and said his party will not “tolerate” Congress chief Sonia Gandhi’s ploy to “impose Emergency”.

“The incident which happened at the Ramlila Ground is Ravan Lila. The crackdown on Baba Ramdev’s fast programme showcases the restlessness of the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance government. What happened is fascism and cannot be tolerated. The BJP will not tolerate it,” said Gadkari while addressing party workers here.

“Earlier, the Congress had imposed Emergency (1975-77). The people of India still remember that black chapter. I want to say that if Sonia-ji tries to move away from the path of democracy and tries to impose Emergency, we will not tolerate it,” said Gadkari.

“Sonia Gandhi says she will fight corruption. It is like Pakistan saying they will fight terrorism. Will anyone believe this?” he said.
