December 30th, 2011 - 1:15 am ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Dec 29 (IANS) The Rajya Sabha was adjourned for 15 minutes Thursday night following opposition protests when Minister of State V. Narayanasamy was making an aggressive speech during the Lokpal debate.
Soon after Narayanasamy began addressing the upper house at the end of a day-long animated debate, Rashtriya Janata Dal’s (RJD) Rajniti Prasad snatched the Lokpal bill from the minister and tore it up, disregarding objections from Chairman Hamid Ansari.
As Narayanasamy resumed speaking, taking repeated potshots at the opposition, restive opposition MPs began to ask how long the session would continue.
Ansari failed to give a definite reply and kept urging the opposition MPs not to disrupt the proceedings. But the disturbances continued and, forcing Ansari to adjourn the house for 15 minutes.
