Bhiwani (Haryana), Sep 14 (IANS) A ‘khap mahapanchayat’ (community conclave) of 36 castes from the Rajput community in Haryana Sunday decided to oppose the ruling Congress in the state.A resolution moved by representatives of the community after a conclave at Keru village near here Sunday said that the ruling Congress in Haryana had not done anything for the welfare of the community in the state.

The community leaders said that false cases were being registered against members of the Rajput community at the behest of ruling politicians.

“We have been taken for a ride by the politicians in the state. We cannot be fooled any more. I urge you not to greet politicians with money when they come,” Haryana Rajput Association president and retired civil servant Ram Pal Singh told the gathering.

Haryana’s Rajput Sabha president Gajraj Singh said that a 21-member committee was being formed to fight the injustice of the Congress government led by Bhupinder Singh Hooda.

“We will give a befitting reply to the Congress in the forthcoming Lok Sabha and assembly polls in the state,” Gajraj Singh said.

The Rajput community comprises 13 percent of Haryana’s population.
