Gurgaon, March 29 (IANS) Vijay Bhardwaj, who has admitted killing Delhi Police sharpshooter Rajbir Singh, was Saturday admitted to a hospital here after he complained of chest pain, the police said. “Bhardwaj was admitted to the Gurgaon Civil Hospital after he developed chest pain,” a police official said.

Bhardwaj, 42 and a real estate agent, told the police that he shot 48-year-old Singh at his Sector 14 office late Monday following a row over money. The office is close to the border with New Delhi.

Bhardwaj, 42, now in the custody of the Gurgaon police, said in his confessional statement that he fired two bullets into Singh’s head with a .32 bore revolver.

He said that Singh had given him the weapon three days earlier.

Singh’s family has asked for an inquiry into his murder by the Central Bureau of Investigation, a request seconded by the government of Haryana.

One of Delhi’s best known and most controversial officers, Singh was known as an “encounter specialist” - an euphemism for a cop who tends to track down and shoot gangsters and terrorists.
