Rajasthan orders transfer of employees on harassment charge
May 11th, 2011 - 11:55 am ICT by IANSJaipur, May 11 (IANS) Male employees in government departments will be immediately transferred on complaints of sexual harassment by their women colleagues, says a Rajasthan government order.
“It was realised that female employees feel insecure and scared if the accused employee is around. The enquiry initiated by the concerned department against him also gets affected,” an official of the department of personnel told IANS Wednesday.
“It was decided that regardless of whether the allegations are found to be true or not, the accused should be transferred immediately as he may try to influence the probe. A written order regarding this has been circulated to all government departments in the state,” he added.
“We will also ensure security and safety of the victims. If needed, counselling will also be provided.”
He said the departments have also been asked to form committees for hearing of sexual harassment complaints at each office with over 50 employees. The committee will recommend action against the accused if the allegations are found true.
