Rainy Saturday for Delhi, more showers likely (Lead)

New Delhi, Aug 11 (IANS) It was a rainy Saturday for Delhi with a total of 17.2 mm rain recorded throughout the day. The met forecast more showers Sunday.

The maximum temperature settled at 35.1 degrees Celsius, two notches above the average for the season, while minimum temperature was 27.8 degrees Celsius, a notch above the average for the season. Humidity stood at a whopping 95 percent.

“Sky would remain generally cloudy Sunday. Few spells of rain are likely in some parts of the city,” an official from India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.

“Maximum and minimum temperature would stay around 34 and 26 degrees Celsius,” the official added.

While the weekend remained pleasant and breezy for the capital, traffic jams were reported from some areas due to rain.

According to the Delhi traffic helpline, vehicular movement was slow in Azad Market, Dhaula Kuan in south Delhi and Mori Gate in north Delhi.
