Islamabad, Aug 9 (IANS) Choked pipelines caused rainwater to enter two floors of Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari’s official residence, causing cancellation of at least three meetings.

Zardari took serious note of rainwater accumulating in the President House during a downpour here Monday, Dawn reported.

The president had to chair three meetings in the presidential palace during the day, but they had to be shelved.

Pipelines were choked causing water to spill into the third and fourth floors of the building, the media report said.

The Pakistan President House is located on Constitution Avenue in Islamabad near Parliament building and the Prime Minister’s Secretariat. President House is also known as Aiwan-e-Sadr and presidential palace.

On Monday, the capital received 176mm rain in just three hours.

“Rainfall was severe, fast and limited to three to four square kilometres only,” Mohammad Haneef, an official, was quoted as saying.
