Rain and bad light haunt Mohali Test

Mohali, Dec 19 (IANS) The threat of rain looms over the second cricket Test between India and England with meteorological department here forecasting a downpour and poor light in the next 24 hours.The first day’s play Friday was hampered by bad daylight and led to a delayed start. The stumps were called with 18 overs still left to be bowled.

The play here took place amidst sporadic drizzles and the weather department said weather conditions are likely to be the same Saturday.

“There is a possibility of rain late in the Friday night and Saturday morning. Similar overcast conditions and drizzles in short intervals will prevail Saturday,” Chatar Singh Malik, director of meteorological department, Chandigarh, told IANS Friday evening.

“Such conditions are there all over Punjab and Haryana. The mercury can also dip further in the next two or three days and weather will become clear only Dec 21.”
