Raids on missing minister’s home to continue: Goa Police
June 22nd, 2010 - 10:07 pm ICT by IANSPanaji, June 22 (IANS) Goa Police Tuesday said it will continue to raid the home of former tourism minister Mickky Pacheco any number of times required, to track down the ex-minister who is an accused in a culpable homicide case and has been ‘missing’ for more than two weeks now.
Speaking to reporters in Panaji, Superintendent of Police (CID) Atmaram Deshpande said the police had already raided Pacheco’s house thrice, but the searches had yielded nothing.
“We have already raided the house thrice. There is no limit to the number of times we can carry out such searches. We can raid again if we have specific information,” Deshpande said.
Pacheco, along with his aide Lyndon Monteiro, is accused in the suspicious death of the former minister’s alleged lover 28-year-old Nadia Torrado, who died after consuming poison May 30.
Deshpande said there was no question of Pacheco leaving the country as red corner notices had already been issued in his name. “We are making efforts to trace him. We are also in touch with our counterparts in other states,” Deshpande said.
“He has been lucky that the police have not been able to track him. We will trace him. His luck will run out,” Deshpande said.
Pacheco and Monteiro’s anticipatory bail application was rejected by the Panaji bench of the Bombay High Court Monday.
