Raids at ex-JPSC chairman’s house, other places
June 15th, 2010 - 8:02 pm ICT by IANSRanchi, June 15 (IANS) Raids were conducted Tuesday at nine places, including the house of a former Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) chairman, in connection with alleged irregularities in the appointments of 19 administrative officers, a Jharkhand Vigilance Bureau official said.
A First Information report (FIR) was lodged Saturday against 32 people, including Dileep Prasad, the ex-chairman, and three former members - Radhagovind Nagesh, Shanti Devi and Gopal Singh - for the ‘wrongful’ appointments of 19 officers, most of whom have been found to be relatives of politicians and ex-JPSC members.
“Raids, related to appointments of administrative officers, were conducted at nine places,” Neyaz Ahmad, Jharkhand Vigilance Bureau director general, told reporters.
Vigilance sources said raids were conducted at the houses of Prasad, the three former members of the JPSC and other places.
Documents and other things, related to irregularities in appointments of administrative officers, were seized, the sources added.
In an examination conducted in 2007-2008, 172 people qualified for various posts, including those for deputy superintendents of police (DSPs), block development officers (BDOs) and others.
The vigilance bureau probed the copies and marks obtained by 37 qualifying candidates. It found that 19 officers — six DSPs, eight BDOs, and five belonging to state finance services — were appointed in a wrong manner.
Jharkhand Governor M.O.H. Farook June 9 granted permission to lodge FIRs against Prasad and the former JPSC members for the alleged irregularities.
