Ragpickers arrested for robberies
April 12th, 2010 - 9:28 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, April 12 (IANS) Four ragpickers have been arrested for their involvement in a number of robberies in the national capital, police said Monday.
“The accused were identified as Siraj, 27, Nizam 28, Farid 22 and Suresh 22. All of them are ragpickers and they were arrested near a bus stop in Jahangirpuri yesterday (Sunday) around 3.30 p.m.,” a police official said.
“The gang was arrested by patrolling police officials who saw the four looting cash from Sanjay, a resident of Jahangirpuri in northwest Delhi. He raised an alarm and chased them,” he added.
The policemen joined Sanjay and caught the robbers.
“The gang used to rob people in the early hours of the morning,” the police official added.
