Los Angeles, Oct 14 (IANS) Director Larysa Kondracki, who has teamed up with Rachel Weisz in his debut feature film “The Whistleblower”, is all praise for the Oscar winning actress and describes her as a real actor with no airs.”The strong and inspiring thing about Rachel is that she has not boxed herself in the corner - she is a real actor than a movie star. She is a very interesting person and a very passionate actor. She actually goes deep into the character while acting, so it was a pleasure to make a movie with such an amazing actress,” Kondracki said in an e-mail interaction.

The film, which premiered at the 2010 Toronto International Film Festival, will also be screened at the ongoing 13th edition of the Mumbai Film Festival (MAMI) Saturday.

Born in Toronto, Kondracki studied English and theatre at McGill University (Canada) and “The Whistleblower” is her first feature film. In 2008, she had directed a short film - “VIKO”.

Kondracki said that the film is inspired by actual events and tells the story of Kathryn Bolkovac, played by Rachel, whose expectations of helping to rebuild a devastated country are dashed when she uncovers a dangerous reality of corruption, cover-up and intrigue amid a world of private contractors and multinational diplomatic doubletalk.

“She plays a police officer who takes the job of a peacemaker in post-war Bosnia. I don’t see her as a hero but I see her as a person who didn’t have much choice. She comes across as a force, she is strong and very athletic and physically, I think, intimidated,” she added.

Releasing Oct 21, the film also stars Vanessa Redgrave, Monica Bellucci and David Strathairn.
