September 26th, 2010 - 4:59 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Sep 26 (IANS) Delhi’s much treasured ‘Qutub Festival’ of dance and music will be “much bigger and better” this time around as it coincides with the Oct 3-14 Commonwealth Games, an official said.
The usually three-day long festival will be spread over 10 days this year Oct 4-13.
According to an official of the department of art, culture and languages: “Some of the biggest names in the music industry will be performing at the festival like Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, Louis Banks, Hariharan, Daler Mehndi, Euphoria, Mohit Chauhan, among others. The emphasis this time around is on the popular music genre.”
The visitors, while listening to a wide variety of music in an overwhelming ambience, can dig into multi-cuisine food in the nearby food court.
“The food court will be much bigger than previous years with a lot of varieties to choose from,” the official said.
Some 7,000 athletes and officials from 71 countries and territories are expected to attend the Commonwealth Games.
