Qutab Minar of 100,000 flowers - at Bangalore (With image)
January 19th, 2010 - 7:09 pm ICT by IANSBangalore, Jan 19 (IANS) A model of the Qutab Minar made of 100,000 flowers, mainly roses, was the star attraction of the annual Republic Day flower show that began here Tuesday.
The 30-feet floral Qutab Minar is a replica of the 13th century tower in Delhi.
The other attraction was a 15-feet tall statue of Cauvery Mata or river goddess, created with over 60,000 roses.
The nine-day show was inaugurated Tuesday by Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa.
The show features potted plants, cut flowers, Ikebana, Indian floral art, bonsai and vegetable carvings.
Also on display are orchids from Taiwan and Thailand, Dutch flower arrangements and flowers from Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim and Nagaland.
