Putin trains with Russian ice hockey legends
November 19th, 2011 - 1:52 pm ICT by IANSMoscow, Nov 19 (IANS/RIA Novosti) Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin scored several goals while training with Russian ice hockey legends at a Moscow hockey arena Friday.
The Russian premier promised to learn to skate well enough to play hockey during a video conference with young Russian sportsmen in February.
During Friday’s training, Putin wore a red-blue uniform with the Russian national emblem. His number was 11.
Putin carefully followed recommendations of two coaches - former NHL player Alexei Gusarov and the head coach of Russian national ice hockey team Zinetula Bilyaletdinov.
Putin trained with retired NHL star Pavel “Russian Rocket” Bure, a former head coach of the Russian national hockey team Vyacheslav Bykov and the president of the CSKA ice hockey club Vyacheslav Fetisov.
Other Soviet-era hockey stars who took part in the training were Vyacheslav Anisin, Vladimir Golikov, Alexander Golikov Alexei Kasatonov, Alexander Kozhevnikov, Vladimir Krutov, Yuri Lebedev, Vladimir Lutchenko, Yuri Lyapkin, Sergei Makarov, Vladimir Myshkin, Viktor Shalimov and Alexander Yakushev.
