Punjab to get over 7,000 teachers in a week

in Punjab to meet the shortage of teachers, state Education Minister Upinderjit Kaur
said here Wednesday.
“We have recruited 7,654 teachers and screening process for verification of their certificates is on. Officials concerned have been directed to post them within a week to the rural schools having a shortage of teachers on priority basis,” said Kaur.
“Besides this, 3,654 primary teachers would also be recruited in the coming months. So far, the Akali Dal government has recruited nearly 34,000 teachers in government schools,” she said.
“We have spent Rs.634 crore on the upgradation of infrastructure and to provide safe drinking water and toilet facilities in 18,969 schools. At least 21 new model schools would be set up in educationally backward blocks in the state at a budget of Rs.63.42 crore in the coming months,” Kaur added.
