Punjab teachers to make weekly reports on students
October 2nd, 2009 - 10:51 pm ICT by IANSChandigarh, Oct 2 (IANS) To keep a regular tab on students’ performance and to streamline the education system, all teachers in the state schools have been asked to maintain school diaries, the state education minister said here Friday.
“Among various steps for improvement in imparting quality education, teachers have been instructed to maintain diaries on weekly basis. They have to mention about syllabus covered, students’ weekly tests record, homework reports and planning for the next week,” Education Minister Upinderjit Kaur said.
Teachers will be required to maintain these diaries every weekend with advanced planning of studies to be taken up, aimed to bring out more improvement in their students.
“All the district and block education officers and school heads have been directed to regularly check these diaries at every weekend and also to counter-check them with monitor’s diaries being maintained daily by the class monitors,” she said.
Punjab is observing 2009-10 academic year as a qualitative year to bring out revolutionary educational reforms in the government schools.
Earlier teachers were writing daily diaries but now they have been told to write weekly diaries so that they can devote more time to students during the school hours, Kaur added.
