Lucknow, March 15 (IANS) A double murder in Pune Friday has been solved with the arrest of the prime suspect here Sunday, the Uttar Pradesh police said.
The Special Task Force (STF) of the Uttar Pradesh police arrested Kiran Pujari, a Pune resident, from Aliganj area here in the afternoon, on the charge of killing Vidya Ghorpade and her six-year-old son in Pune Friday.

“Vidya and her son were stabbed to death in their home in Chinchwad locality of Pune Friday. A case was registered and the Crime Branch of the Maharashtra police was probing the incident,” Additional Director General of Police (Crime & Law and Order) Brij Lal told reporters.

“Initial information of Pune sleuths indicated Pujari’s involvement in the crime and they also traced his location in Uttar Pradesh,” Brij Lal said, adding the STF found out Pujari was coming to meet someone at Kapurthala crossing of Aliganj area and laid a trap for him.

During interrogation, Pujari said he met Vidya through a cousin five years ago. Her husband Deepak was working in Aurangabad then and she was living alone and an illicit relation developed between them, Brij Lal said.

A case has been registered against Pujari and formalities were on to send him to Pune on a transit remand.
