Protests over death of two children in Blueline accident

New Delhi, Aug 28 (IANS) People blocked traffic on the Mehrauli-Badarpur road here Thursday evening to protest the death of two students in a Blueline bus accident and alleged inaction by police. The incident took place Wednesday in Sangam Vihar area when a 419 route bus, plying between Old Delhi Railway Station and Ambedkar Nagar, rammed into a water tanker. Three school children hanging from the bus door fell on the road due to the impact, police said.

Two children, Pankay and Mohit, died on the spot and the third was injured. All were residents of Sangam Vihar area.

The bus driver escaped. The angry residents blocked the M-B road Thursday evening demanding action against the driver.

The blockade led to a huge traffic jam on the road and the furious protesters also damaged a few buses.

Two cops posted at a nearby police post were also beaten by the mob.
