Protest against fee hike in private schools
October 9th, 2011 - 6:20 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Oct 9 (IANS) A group of people protested at Rajghat Sunday against private schools in the national capital hiking their fees, calling it arbitrary.
The rally was organised by the All India Parents Association (AIPA), an apex body formed following the fee hike by private schools in the name of implementing the Sixth Pay Commission’s recommendations.
Speaking at the rally, social activist and AIPA president Ashok Agarwal stressed the need to reform school education in the country.
Agarwal sought the enactment of a central law to regulate fees and other charges in unaided private schools in the country and a resolution by all the state assemblies in support of this.
There was also need to remove the disparities between various government schools, he said, adding that all government-run schools should at least be brought to the level of Kendriya Vidyalayas (Central Schools).
