New Delhi, April 27 (IANS) A student leader of Delhi University (DU) Tuesday requested Vice Chancellor Deepak Pental to take action in a case of alleged sexual harassment of two St Stephen’s College girls by a non-teaching staff member.Kriti Wadhera, vice president of the Delhi University Students Union (DUSU), made the request in a letter written to Pental.

“Two girls who are studying BA programme at the St. Stephen’s College were sexually harassed by a non-teaching staff member who works in the principal’s office,” she said.

“The incident happened two days back, but when the girls went to complain to the principal, they were turned away,” she said.

“The girls then went to the college complaints committee (CCC), but were again turned away,” Wadhera said.

When the matter was brought to my notice, I decided to approach the vice chancellor directly,” Wadhera told IANS.

In the letter to the vice chancellor, Wadhera requested that he should advise the CCC to take up the issue and decide the matter within two-three weeks.

“I have also sent a letter to the college principal as well as the National Commission for Women,” she added.
