Probe ordered into youth’s death in Mathura
November 2nd, 2011 - 12:23 am ICT by IANSLucknow, Nov 1 (IANS) The Uttar Pradesh government Tuesday ordered a probe by state’s police’s Crime Branch-Criminal Investigation Department (CB-CID) into the death of a youth in Mathura district last month, officials said.
Sanjeev Sikarwar’s family alleged that Agriculture Minister Chaudhary Laxmi Narayan and others got him killed, a charge denied by the minister.
According to the youth’s brother Anil, Sanjeev was killed at the behest of the minister after he came to know about several illegal trades related to illicit liquor, illegal oil and other unauthorised activities in which the minister and his relatives were allegedly involved.
Sanjeev’s body was recovered Oct 27 from the Bhuteshwar railway crossing in Mathura, some 300 km from Lucknow.
His father Shiv Kumar alleged that he met police officials demanding an inquiry into the death of his son, but to no avail.
“As we want there should a transparent inquiry into the matter, the CB-CID has been entrusted the task to probe the case,” Additional Director General of Police Subesh Kumar Singh told reporters here.
The minister rubbished the allegations made by Sanjeev’s family and claimed a “political conspiracy” had been hatched against him.
