Premature, underweight triplets doing well
November 23rd, 2011 - 7:14 pm ICT by IANSFaridabad, Nov 23 (IANS) The premature triplets born in this industrial town in Haryana a month ago via in vitro fertilisation (IVF) method have gained weight and are doing well, thanks to intensive medical care, a doctor said Wednesday.
A 52-year-old woman delivered three baby boys at Asian Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS) Oct 28 about 10 weeks before the expected date of delivery. They were kept on ventilator support.
According to AIMS, the three babies weighed 1.4 kg, 1.2 kg and 1.6 kg and were fed milk via a tube.
“The triplets born prematurely have coped well. They were kept on ventilator and after constant observation at the hospital, they were discharged Monday,” said Anil Batra, consultant neonatologist at the hospital.
The three babies now weigh 1.7 kg, 1.6 kg and 1.8 kg respectively and are on mother’s milk.
