Powerful earthquake hits northwest China

Beijing, Nov 10 (Xinhua) A powerful earthquake measuring 6.3 on the Richter scale hit China’s remote northwestern province of Qinghai Monday, the State Seismological Bureau said.The quake struck at 9:22 a.m. with an epicentre in Qinghai’s Haixi prefecture, an area mainly inhabited by Mongolians and Tibetans, in a depth of about 10 km, according to the bureau.

There were no immediate reports of damage or casualties.
