Positive mind is key to success, says CBSE Class 12 topper
May 22nd, 2010 - 12:08 am ICT by IANSKanpur, May 21 (IANS) A positive mind and clear understanding of subjects were the key to performance for Akash Singh, a student from Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur district who scored 97.8 percent marks in Class 12 board exams.
“Just focus on the concepts and don’t get nervous. You would surely pass your board exams with flying colours,” Singh told IANS.
“There’s a common perception that for achieving good results, one needs to study for several hours. But believe me, anyone with clear concepts can perform well in exams by studying regularly only for a few hours. The problem arises when students try to perform well by cramming up everything,” said Singh, who is a student of Woodbine Gardenia School here.
Singh scored 99 percent marks in maths and physical education and 98 percent in physics, chemistry and English.
“Though mediapersons have told me that I have topped in the Allahabad region (comprising Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, Orissa, Jharkhand and Uttarakhand), but I have not received any confirmation from the CBSE regional office as it does not prepare any official merit list.”
Singh now aspires to be an engineer. “I want to be an engineer from the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur,” added Singh, whose father is also an engineer. His mother is a housewife.
“Later, I may prepare for civil services and contribute to the policy-making decisions,” he added.
